About the Show
After a brief out-of-town tour in late 1905 The Gingerbread Man opened on Broadway in early 1906.
This perfectly edible show bore more than a passing resemblance to Babes in Toyland. Sticky-buns replaced toys, Candy Cadets replaced Wooden Soldiers, and both featured a strong Santa Claus/Christmas theme.

The Candy Cadets -- ACT II
The show featured music by A. Baldwin Sloane (1872--1926) composer of Jack and the Beanstalk, Lady Teazle, and The Mocking Bird, and received a credit for several songs in The Wizard of Oz.
While The Gingerbread Man ran on Broadway for only sixteen performances it was performed in stock as late as 1913 when it played for a week with the Bainbridge Musical Comedy Stock Co. in Minneapolis.
