Montgomery & Stone in
THE RED MILL
Motion Picture (1907)
Following hard on the heels of their rise to stardom in the 1903
Wizard of Oz, Fred A Stone and David C. Montgomery starred in
Victor Herbert's The Red Mill which opened at the Knickerbocker
Theatre in New York on September 24, 1906.
In the spring of 1907 The Winthrop Moving Picture Co. made two very short
films of Montgomery & Stone performing two of their routines in
The Red Mill. The shorter of the two, only 9 feet long, was
their "Boxing Dance." It was filmed on May 7, 1907. In it Fred Stone
virtually jumps on his head and suddenly bolts right back onto his feet!
